Ernst Mach Scholarship

Important facts:

Please mind that this scholarship is open only for people with the student status at their home university! In other words the student has to be enrolled at a university in his/her  home country in order to apply, otherwise you are not eligible!  

Deadline for the scholarship is probably 1. February 2020 (or 1 March – the details have not been published yet). You can find information on the scholarship on www.grants.at (please type “Ernst Mach” by name and then choose “Ernst Mach Grant for studying at an Austrian university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule)” or have a look at the pdf in the attachment. In order to apply, the student has to register in a database of www.scholarship.at,  where he/she has to deliver answers to some questions and also upload some documents. It is worth to prepare the answers and the documents in advance!  CUAS International Relations Office would be happy to individually support your students by the application for Ernst Mach Scholarship application, however the application itself requires time and effort from the student side.

Please notice that the student needs a Confirmation from CUAS that he/she is to be an Incoming student at CUAS. In order to receive such a Confirmation the student has to apply as an Incoming student and follow the procedure on http://www.fh-kaernten.at/en/about-cuas/organisation/supporting-services/international-relations-office/incoming-exchange-students/.  CUAS needs about 2 weeks to issue a Letter of Acceptance for the students.

By 13 December 2019 we would have to have the names of those who want to apply for the exchange at our university and for the scholarship. By the end of December we should have all the documents of the students (Application form, Learning agreement, Transcript of Records, Copy of the passport).

Steps and information for the student interested in spending 1 or 2 semesters at CUA Sin Austria:

STEP 1 Apply online by 13th December

First you have to apply for the exchange at CUAS in fall semester 2020. Please follow the procedure on http://www.fh-kaernten.at/en/about-... As part of the procedure you will have to upload a Learning Agreement -  a plan of courses that you would like to attend at CUAS. You can find the list of courses on http://www.fh-kaernten.at/en/degree... (click on the program and then on curriculum). If you are planning to spend only 1 semester (5 months) in the fall semester 2020 at CUAS than choose the courses only from first or third semester, if you are planning to spend the whole year (10 months) at CUAS than you have to choose courses from first, second and third semester. Please mind that you have to choose courses for more than 15 ECTS points for 1 and more than 30 ECTS points for 2 semesters.

STEP 2

Please formulate answers to following questions and send it to Ms. Aleksandra Jama (a.jama@fh-kaernten.at) by 02.01.2020. I will try to help you with the answers but will not formulate them for you.

Please be PRECISE and CONCRETE. Do not only write “I want to make friends in Austria”. The competition by this scholarship is pretty high so you have to prove that you are unique and that YOU deserve the scholarship. Try not to repeat yourself when giving answers even though some questions might sound similar to you.

10)  What are your hobbies (short)

11)Why did you decide to spend your time at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (max 2000 signs)

12)What would you like to do to achieve your study aim at this institution (max 2000 signs)

13)What meaning does your stay at CUAS has for your studies at home institution (max 2000 signs)

Take time to think about the answers and about your study plan for the stay in Austria.

As soon as I receive the answers, I will give you my feedback to them.

Afterwards you could put the answers into the online procedure or Ernst Mach Scholarship.

STEP 3

Please notice that you are supposed to deliver 2 Letters of Recommendations by your applications. This means you have to talk to at least 2 professors and ask them for help. There are drafts of the Letters of Recommendations and you will get access to them as soon as you register in the database of www.scholarship.at  where you have to apply.

STEP 4

If you have any Language Certificates please prepare them as well as you might be asked to upload them in the application procedure for Ernst Mach.
